We operate sober living residence(s) in the State of New York and comply with applicable state and federal laws regarding privacy and confidentiality, including, where applicable:

  • New York State privacy and housing laws

  • The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) (if we receive protected health information from covered providers)

  • The Federal Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records Law (42 CFR Part 2) where applicable

We are committed to protecting the privacy of individuals who apply to or reside in our sober living programs.


1. Information We Collect

We may collect:

A. Personal Identifying Information

  • Name, address, phone number, email

  • Emergency contact(s)

  • Employment or education status

B. Residency & Application Information

  • Date of birth, gender or shared-living considerations, references, program-relevant background information

C. Substance Use Recovery-Related Information

  • Treatment history

  • Sobriety status

  • Relevant health considerations

  • Support services currently engaged in (sponsor, counseling, groups, etc.)

This type of information may be protected by 42 CFR Part 2 if it originates from a federally assisted substance use disorder program. When applicable, we treat this information as confidential medical information and will not disclose it without explicit written consent unless permitted or required by law.

  • Payments for residence, fees, or services

E. Website Usage Information

  • IP address, browser type, device type, referring pages, access times

  • Collected via cookies (see Section 7)


2. Why We Collect This Information

We collect and use your information to:

  • Evaluate your eligibility for residency

  • Administer housing services and maintain a recovery-supportive living environment

  • Communicate with you about residency, policy changes, and program expectations

  • Maintain residence safety and compliance with community guidelines

  • Support your participation in recovery support services (if you choose to engage)

  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and audit requirements

  • Improve our website and service offerings

Your recovery information is not used for marketing and is never shared without proper authorization.


3. Confidentiality & Special Protections Under 42 CFR Part 2

If we receive substance use disorder treatment information from a qualifying program, federal law prohibits us from disclosing that information unless:

  1. You provide written consent,

  2. The disclosure is permitted by specific exceptions under the law (e.g., medical emergency, court order, crimes on premises, mandated reporting), or

  3. The disclosure is de-identified.

We will provide a Consent to Release Information Form when disclosure is needed (e.g., coordinating with a treatment provider).

After the retention period expires, we securely delete or de-identify records.

Our services are not intended for individuals under age 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.

Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the website https://anchorroc.com (the “Site”) and your participation in the sober living residence(s) provided by AnchorRoc Living (“we,” “us,” “our”). By visiting our website, submitting an application, being accepted as a resident, or residing in our program, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our website or apply for residency.


1. Nature of Our Services

AnchorRoc Living is a recovery-supportive sober living residence. We provide housing and a structured recovery environment. We are not a treatment center, medical provider, or licensed clinical program.

We do not:

  • Provide professional therapy, medical diagnosis, detoxification, or addiction treatment services

  • Provide guaranteed supervision

  • Provide crisis or emergency mental health care

Residents are responsible for maintaining their own sobriety and arranging professional treatment or medical care separately.


2. Residency Eligibility

Eligibility to reside in the home is based on:

  • Demonstrated commitment to sobriety

  • Willingness to follow residence rules and guidelines

  • Participation in recovery-related activities (if required by the program)

  • Ability to safely live in a communal living environment

We reserve the right to accept or decline any application at our sole discretion, consistent with applicable anti-discrimination laws.


3. Resident Obligations

Residents agree to:

  • Abstain from alcohol, controlled substances, and illicit drug use

  • Follow house rules, curfew (if applicable), chore assignments, guest policy, and community conduct standards

  • Participate in recovery-support activities, meetings, accountability check-ins, and drug/alcohol testing if administered

  • Respect shared living spaces and the privacy/rights of other residents

  • Pay all agreed fees on time

A Resident Handbook or House Rules document will be provided separately and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Violation of residency obligations may result in warnings or termination of residency.


4. Fees and Payments

Residents are responsible for paying agreed-upon program fees (e.g., rent, utilities, shared costs, testing fees). All payment terms will be provided in writing prior to move-in.

Late or unpaid fees may result in late charges, removal from the program, and/or legal enforcement where permitted.


5. No Medical, Legal, or Clinical Advice

All content on the Site and in the program is provided for informational and peer support purposes only. Nothing we provide should be interpreted as:

  • Medical advice

  • Counseling or therapy

  • Legal guidance

  • Mental health diagnosis

Always seek appropriate licensed professional services when needed.


6. Drug and Alcohol Testing

To support the integrity and safety of the residence:

  • Testing may be required at intake, randomly, or when concerns arise.

  • Refusal to test or tampering with testing is treated as a positive result.

  • Testing information is handled respectfully and confidentially, and where applicable may be protected under 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality rules.


7. Privacy and Confidentiality

Your privacy is important to us. All personal information is handled according to our Privacy Policy, available at:

In cases involving information protected under 42 CFR Part 2 (substance use disorder treatment records received from qualifying programs), we will not disclose such information without written consent except as allowed by law.


8. Prohibited Conduct

While accessing the Site or residing in the home, you may not:

  • Harass, threaten, exploit, or harm others

  • Engage in violence, theft, or property destruction

  • Bring alcohol, drugs, or paraphernalia onto the property

  • Use the Site in a way that interferes with servers, networks, or security systems

Violation may result in denial of residency or removal.


9. Termination of Residency

We may terminate residency if:

  • You violate house rules

  • You relapse and/or pose a safety risk to yourself or others

  • You fail to pay required fees

  • You refuse to participate in accountability requirements

Termination will follow the procedure described in the House Rules. Personal belongings must be retrieved within the timeframe given at discharge.


10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not responsible for any personal loss, emotional distress, medical complications, or relapse.

  • Residents remain responsible for their own choices and recovery.

  • Our liability for any claim is limited to the amount paid by the resident in the prior 60 days.


11. Website Content and Intellectual Property

All content on the Site (text, graphics, media, logos) is our property or used under license. You may not reproduce, copy, or use any content without permission.


12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. The revised Terms will be posted on the Site with a new effective date. Continued use of the Site or residence after changes means you accept the updated Terms.


13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes must be handled in state or federal courts located in New York.
